baby story:
The Pregnancy
I don't think any pregnancy is particularly easy, but this one had to have been one of the
easiest relative to the others we've seen. Jaime didn't have any of the morning sickness
and aside from being tired and having a few aches and pains, she felt great the entire
pregnancy.

The Labor
Jaime endured over 20 hours of labor - but with the help of techniques we learned in birth
class, and the bathtub, she was able to cope with it very well. Jaime delivered Bella with no
drugs at all - just like in the good old days. It's a good thing, too. Just 12 hours after Bella
was born, Raleigh was plunged into the dreaded "Snowfall of 05". We made it out of Chapel
Hole just in time to avoid the brunt of the 2.1 inches of snow that brought The Triangle to its
knees.
Both me and Jaime managed to keep our composures during the labor. We were prepared
for everything that happened. Not until Bella was actually born, and the midwives Jenny and
Maureen told Jaime "Go ahead and take your baby" did we lose it. Well I did anyway...
The Name
Zorabella is named after our grandmothers. Jaime's mother's grandmother, Zora Belle, and
my father's mother, Rose. Bella is a nice way of shortening it, I think.
Our Baby
Lifting her head at one day old, and rolling over at one week is not normal. When she
started smiling at us at less than 2 weeks old we knew we were in for it. We got ourselves
another little overachiever, don't we?
